Convergence Events Pvt Ltd have signed exclusive rights with Scotland-based Swamp Soccer UK Ltd to bring swamp soccer to India; the maiden tournament will start on April 5, 2014 and the winners will represent India in the Swamp Soccer World Cup in Scotland in June 2014. The maiden swamp soccer tournament will be held in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru. The tournament will be kicked-off on April 5, 2014 in New Delhi and will end with the championship match on April 27, 2014 in Mumbai.
Dubai's new tax
Dubai has confirmed plans to levy a small fee on all hotel nights from March 31, 2014 as it looks to raise funds for Expo investment and destination marketing. The 'Tourism Dirham' charge will be applied on guests staying in all types of holiday accommodation, including hotels, hotel apartments, guesthouses and holiday homes and will vary between AED7 (US$2) and AED20 (US$5.5) per room per night, depending on the hotel category and rating.
The 'Tourism Dirham' will support Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, for its continued competitiveness on the global stage. The Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, an affiliate of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), was founded in January with a mandate for international promotion and marketing of Dubai.
